While winter is just getting started here in Pittsburgh, we are already planning this winter’s 3rd Annual Cool Down for Warmth event! It’s time to mark your calendars for January 26 and 27, 2017. Once again, a house of ice will be constructed in downtown Pittsburgh in Market Square. Willing participants will stay in the house until they have met their minimum fundraising goal.
The event has become an annual fundraiser for local families who struggle to afford their heating costs in the winter. Due to the high visibility and sheer sight of a large house made of ice, the event also raises awareness for Dollar Energy Fund and the families we serve.
If you would like to participate in this fundraiser, get an early start and sign up today at www.crowdrise.com/CoolDownForWarmth2017. All donations will receive a dollar-for-dollar match from our partnering utility companies and 100% of the donations and matching funds will be used to provide utility assistance grants to local families in need through Dollar Energy Fund’s Hardship Program.
While we welcome you to sit in the ice house and start your own fundraising page, we are appreciative of any donation from those who are unable to participate in the event, and wish to make a contribution to an existing team or individual. Either way, we hope to see you in Market Square at the end of January. This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever before! We will have plenty of opportunities to donate on the spot, take and share selfies in front of a “selfie wall” made of ice, sample food and beverages from local restaurants and bars, and participate in many other activities throughout the week.
As you begin your fundraising efforts, please stay tuned for more information on participant instructions, incentives, sponsorship details, and event updates. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter and help us spread the word!
Your contribution directly supports an individual or family facing a utility crisis.
