Dollar Energy Fund is halfway through its 2024-2025 program year. Let’s look back at what we have accomplished during the past six months, with the help of our staff, utility partners and supporters.

October

  • Dollar Energy Fund opened its 2024-2025 program year for utility customers throughout 17 states.
  • To better serve our diverse customer base, Dollar Energy Fund expanded its website this year with full Spanish translation and select pages in Mandarin and Vietnamese.

November

  • Dollar Energy Fund hosted its 8th annual Winter Warm Up Request-A-Thon in partnership with iHeartMedia and 3WS Pittsburgh. The event raised $164,502 to provide utility assistance to approximately 460 Pittsburgh households (1,390 neighbors) who were struggling to stay warm. The fundraiser also surpassed a huge milestone this year of over $1 million raised since the first event in 2018!
  • Dollar Energy Fund participated in #GiveBigPittsburgh and #ShareOmaha on Giving Tuesday.

December

  • The Jerseys for Warmth Charitable Action, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins, raised $50,930 to support Dollar Energy Fund and benefit local families in need of utility assistance. Our utility partners generously matched all donations dollar-for-dollar, enabling us to provide utility assistance to an additional 141 households in Western PA.

January

  • In January, Dollar Energy Fund was awarded Leadership in Community as part of Dynegy and Homefield Energy’s Leadership Awards program.
  • Dollar Energy Fund announced a new partnership with Nebraska Public Power District to administer their Pennies for Power hardship program.
  • Dollar Energy Fund raised more than $132,000 during its 11th annual Cool Down for Warmth event on Pittsburgh Today Live (KDKA-TV). The amount raised gave assistance to approximately 367 families in Western Pennsylvania who were struggling to afford safe utility service.

February

  • In February, Dollar Energy Fund’s 17th annual Warmathon on KDKA Radio raised $147,186, which provided utility assistance grants to 410 additional Pittsburgh-area households.

March

  • This year’s Heat the Streets Run & Walk for Warmth in Nebraska set a new fundraising record, raising $226,000 to provide utility assistance to Omaha Public Power and Metropolitan Utilities District customers in need.

April

  • Dollar Energy Fund partnered with the Pittsburgh Penguins to host a Fan Appreciation Night Raffle. With your help and a generous match from our utility partners, this campaign raised a total of $13,140 in utility assistance for local families.

Most importantly, Dollar Energy Fund has already distributed 18,751 grants, totaling $6 million across the country since October 1, 2024. Since 1983, we have assisted more than 958,626 households by distributing over $319 million in utility assistance nationwide.

With your help, we can continue to provide immediate and direct assistance during our 2024-2025 program year. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can make an extraordinary impact by ensuring local, limited-income families maintain or restore safe utility service and get on a path to self-sufficiency.

On behalf of the many individuals, seniors, and families we have helped, we thank you for your continued support!
