Relief for Energy Assistance through Community Help (REACH)

Get Help with a Past Due Energy Bill

The Relief for Energy Assistance through Community Help (REACH) program is administered by the Dollar Energy Fund. The program applies payments directly to the past-due utility bills of eligible households. In 2024, PG&E contributed $55 million to support Dollar Energy Fund and expand the REACH program. More customers are now eligible for payment assistance, and benefit levels have increased as of July, 2024.

REACH currently offers two types of relief. You may qualify for one of these programs depending on your household income.

REACH

Low-income households

Provides an energy credit of up to $2,000 based on the past-due balance.

Who is Eligible:

  • Have a residential account with a utility company in PG&E service territory.
  • Account must be in the name of an adult living in the household
  • Provide proof of household income that meets the guidelines (see below for income ranges)

REACH Triple Match

Low-to-moderate income households

A payment of $50 is required towards your past-due balance to receive a triple matching grant of up to $2,000.

Example:
You pay: $50 (minimum allowed)
REACH Triple Match pays: $150
Total past due bill payment: $200

Who is Eligible:

  • Have a residential account with PG&E.
  • Account must be in the name of an adult living in the household.
  • Have a minimum past due balance of at least $200.

  • Provide proof of household income that meets the guidelines (see below for income ranges)
